A Cream For Breast Reduction?

Breast implants, augmentation and reduction are all incredibly popular.  Reduction surgery, in particular, is on the rise as women seek to reduce busts which cause pain, discomfort and embarrassment. A new cream from bra entrepreneur Michelle Mone claims to help women reduce their busts and is also targeted at men who want to reduce their man boobs or “moobs”.

Chest sizes are growing, for both men and women, with women’s breast size rapidly increasing, In the fifties the average cup size was a B, but now it’s risen to a C.  The reasons for this are complex and unclear but may be are linked to the obesity epidemic and also to chemical pollutants in the environment.

In the past three years, the number of D-cups and above sold has doubled, accounting for a quarter of all bra sales. The new cream claims to offer the first ‘breast reduction in a bottle’. Called Boobs Minus, it costs around $60.

Last year 5,291 breast reductions were performed in the UK  alone – an increase of 6.2 per cent on 2010. While many women are seeking to increase their bust size with implants, many others want a smaller bust.

The promoter herself says ‘I used it twice a day for just four weeks and I’m amazed to say I’ve dropped half a cup size already!

‘I’ve spoken to many women in my career about their boobs and many have said they want to tone and firm them without going under the knife…A breast reduction is a major operation and I believe this [cream] is a great alternative.’

The cream works by stimulating the release of skin euphoria molecules and endorphins which firm the bust area. It also contains botantical alpha-2 blockers, which assist the breakdown of fats and other lipids.  The cream’s claims have not yet been backed by clinical trials.

Men who are worried about their moobs, are also encouraged to use the product.

We know that plastic surgery is growing in popularity all over the world, for both sexes and all ages but an interesting recent trend is that more and more high school graduates are getting plastic surgery procedures as gifts. It perhaps should not really come as a surprise in our beauty and celebrity obsessed culture that young people are more frequently asking to get their nose done or their breasts enlarged instead of for their first car or a vacation with their friends after they graduate.

“I’m not shocked completely because there’s a growing trend for plastic surgery in all age ranges,” said plastic surgeon Jennifer Walden. “And basically, with teenagers getting plastic surgery, it kind of goes along with plastic surgery being more accessible, pervasive in our media.”

As they are young and do not yet need the services of a plastic surgeon to fight the signs or symptoms of aging, for teenagers the most popular procedures include:

  • Rhinoplasty
  • Breast augmentation
  • Breast reduction
  • Liposuction

As they are young it is crucial that teenagers are emotionally ready for a permanent change in their body after undergoing surgery. They need to fully understand the implications and seriousness of surgery. In addition, they need to carefully discuss the decision with their parents who should be in agreement and supportive.

It is not a decision to be taken lightly by anyone but for a teenager the change really will last a lifetime so they need to be in full possession of the facts and know it is the right decision for them.  There are also practical considerations, like not being able to participate in normal activities in the period following surgery.

“They should’ve researched the procedures out and be able to take the time off of sports, camps, any type of summer school they may be doing to recover from these procedures so they don’t end up with a complication,” said Walden.

Tips for recovery

  • Teens need four weeks off sport activities
  • They must take off six weeks for contact sports, such as football
  • Use sunblock for those sun-exposed areas
  • Some good rest and relaxation

We all know how childbirth and breastfeeding can negatively affect the shape and size of women’s bodies, particularly the breasts and stomach.  The “Mommy Makeover” is an increasingly popular solution to the less attractive side effects of having your gorgeous bundles of joy.   However, a lot of women who are considering having a makeover have questions about if, what and when to have these procedures done.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding can have a big impact on the breasts causing them to drop, sag and loose elasticity. Implants can provide a solution to this problem and are also an option for women who have seen their bust size decrease following pregnancy.   There are lots of options to look at for moms who are considering implants in terms of type of implants, size and incision location.  The best idea is to talk with your plastic surgeon to discuss your particular preferences and goals for your post-baby future.

Like the breasts, the stomach can be a real casualty of pregnancy.  The rapid weight gain, skin stretching and stretch marks mean for many women that their bodies will never be the same again. For some women, no amount of crunches can eliminate a protruding abdomen with excess skin. It should be noted that women’s bodies continue to change for six to twelve months after childbirth, particularly if they are breastfeeding. It is therefore recommended that women consider waiting at least three to six months to accurately determine their post-pregnancy size and shape. It is also recommended that women wait until they have finished having children before having any procedure as ideally they should be performed only once and a further pregnancy could undo all the good work.

It is crucial to remember that no single approach to a Mommy Makeover is right for every woman. Patient and plastic surgeon need to completely agree on, and meet the needs of, each individual patient.  These are significant surgeries and should only be performed after every check and balance has been thoroughly discussed and explored.

Once this has happened, a combination of breast surgery with a tummy tuck or liposuction can be very beneficial. The combined effects can make a real life enhancing difference to the patient, enabling them to at least partly regain their pre-baby body while also improving their self-confidence and body image.

Do Breast Implants Improve Your Love Life?

The benefits of plastic surgery for enhancing self-confidence and self-esteem are now well known.  Continuing research is adding to the body of evidence and one piece of recent research revealed an unexpected result for breast implant patients – a better sex life.

The new survey has suggested that women who have breast enhancement, or augmentation, also experience a better and more frequent sex life.  The survey revealed that:

·         61% of women who had implants had more frequent sex; and

·         almost 75% of their partners also reported an improvement in their sex life.

Out of all plastic surgery procedures, breast augmentation proved to have the most positive affect on overall sexual satisfaction, followed by body and face surgery respectively.

It was also stated that women who have had enhancement surgery like breast augmentation also said that they experienced a 34% increase in life satisfaction in general.

The report noted that:

‘Women that have undergone breast augmentation surgery or body contouring claim to have reached orgasm more easily, with significant increases in arousal as well as sexual desire.’

A reason for this is believed to be that improvements in self-esteem lead to feelings of increased attractiveness which, in turn, results in improved levels satisfaction with, and desire for, more sex.  Simply put: you look sexier so you feel sexier.

Over one million women in the U.S. have had breast augmentation over the last three years, and the numbers are continuing to rise. The fact that breast implants may increase sexual desire in the woman will certainly be a selling point for those who are considering the surgery, not to mention their partners.

The report added: ‘Overall, improvements in sexual and life satisfaction indicate that most women feel that their breast augmentation is worthwhile and the majority believe it to be a positive experience giving the results they desired’.
